Welcome to the Jack Barclay Golf Society.
The society was founded 16 years ago for the customers of Jack Barclay to meet and share their passion for golf and Bentley motor cars and that ideal still holds dear today.
In 2011 we will be visiting four venues, one of which, Stoke Park, will give members the chance to qualify for the final of the prestigious Bentley Golf Classic at the magnificent Archerfield Links near Edinburgh.
I am particularly looking forward to visiting The Wentworth west course for the second year running and the trip to Valderrama, numbers permitting. Mark and I have really enjoyed being involved with the Society over the last nine years and look forward to meeting many of you and your guests at this year’s events.

Jack Barclay Golf Society 2011
We will continue with the successful pairs format for the 2011 season. Each member will be able to (we actively encourage it!) bring a guest to each event. Having experimented with different formats over the years this system is well liked and ensures the golf remains competitive and varied. The subsidised events represent excellent value for money, making them the ideal opportunity to entertain clients, friends or family and we hope to see as many players as possible at each event.
The season opens with a visit to a new venue for the society, Walton Heath in May followed by the famous West Course at Wentworth in June. The now familiar “Bentley Golf Classic” event will be held at Stoke Park in July and our final meeting will be held at Swinley Forest in September. The national tournament, run by Bentley Motors - The Bentley Golf Classic - continues to engage Bentley owners across the country with 14 qualifying events in 2011 culminating in a National Final in the Autumn where one of our members will represent Jack Barclay.
We are also proposing to organise a trip to Spain in early October 2011 something we last did in 2002! The trip would be based on three night’s accommodation at Finca Cortesin and three rounds of golf, including one round at the famous Valderrama. This event is subject to demand so please do get in contact with Debbie to register your interest.
The Bentley Golf Classic qualifying event will be a Jack Barclay funded event and places are limited. Priority will be given to members that attended previous society events and only Jack Barclay customers & owners are eligible to qualify to the Final. Guests will be welcome to attend but will be required to pay for the day. We will run a separate competition for guests.
As it proved successful last year, we will continue to offer the new on-line system of registration for the events.
We would encourage members to identify as soon as they can which events they are able/would like to attend and deposits will be required. We need to do this so we can indicate to the golf clubs the expected levels of guests we anticipate to attend and to tailor the bookings accordingly.
Society Rules
The winner of each event will have his/her handicap cut by 2 for the remainder of the season. Furthermore, for every 2 points scored above 36, achieved by anyone in the field, will also mean his/her handicap being cut a shot. For Example: Wentworth event - The Member/Guest that wins outright will have his/her handicap reduced by 2 shots. If they shoot a score of 40 they will actually be cut 4 shots. Two for winning and a further two for being four shots higher than 36. The Stoke Park Club event is the only exception to this ruling (Bentley Golf Classic qualifier) and members shall play off their official club handicap, though reductions for winning will still apply going into the Swinley Forest event.
Membership Criteria
Membership to society has always been by invitation only and is kept exclusively for customers of Jack Barclay. The relatively exclusive band of members is an ideal that we wish to uphold.
For the last three years we have also encouraged members to bring a guest and we will continue with this ethos in 2011. This ensures even numbers, combined with varied and competitive teams. Occasionally some of the events are over subscribed or venues limit our numbers in which case names have to be 'drawn out of a hat'.
There is no membership fee this year.
